作品の背景と素材
Yamikiは、数々の賞を受賞したアーティスト、ジェームズの手によって制作された、一点ものの大型フロアランプです。
 
約310時間に及ぶ手仕事によって生み出された、高さ190 cmの彫刻的な作品です。灯りをともしていないときにも空間の中心となり、点灯すると、やわらかな光が和紙の層を通して広がります。
 
内部には、軽く丈夫なラタン（籐）のフレームを使用しています。その上に美濃和紙を11層重ね、さらに希少な楮（こうぞ）の内皮を1層加えています。
 
和紙は古金調に手染めされ、重なり合う繊維と有機的な曲線が、光の強弱と奥行きを生み出します。

Artist’s Concept and Materials
Yamiki is a one-of-a-kind large floor lamp handcrafted by award-winning artist James.
 
Standing 190 cm tall, this sculptural work required approximately 310 hours of craftsmanship. Even when unlit, it creates a striking focal point within a room. Once illuminated, a gentle glow travels through its many layers of Washi.
 
Its internal structure is built around a lightweight yet durable rattan frame. This is covered with 11 layers of Mino Washi and one additional layer of rare inner bark from the Kozo, or paper mulberry, tree.
The Washi is hand-dyed in an antique gold tone. Its overlapping fibers and organic curves create subtle variations in light, shadow, and depth.

To experience Yamiki at its most atmospheric, dim the other lights in the room and allow its glow to gradually fill the surrounding space.
 
The light passes softly through the many layers of Washi, creating a deep and calming warmth reminiscent of soaking in a Japanese onsen.
 
Yamiki is a large-scale “Hot Spring of Light” that gently transforms the atmosphere of the entire room.
