Washi Art: A Curated Experience Under the Canopy

Welcome to a "Sanctuary of Light" designed by an award-winning Washi artist with a 20-year career.

Our studio offers more than just a workshop; it is a sophisticated journey for the senses unfolding beneath a massive Washi canopy.

These experiences are designed as "Modern Ceremonies"—where creation and hospitality move in a comfortable rhythm. Whether for couples, friends, or teams seeking creative stimulation, this is a special place where inspiration emerges from deep relaxation.

Experience 1: Basic Washi Lamp Experience

The Art of Slow Crafting A mindful daytime retreat that begins by sculpting your unique lamp using exceptionally rare Japanese paper. During a one-hour break, enjoy an included drink at our boutique cafe or take a stroll to explore local hidden gems while your work dries. The journey concludes with final assembly, learning to capture beautiful photos of your creation, and discovering how to transform your own space into a "mini hot spring of light" before signing our washi canopy lamp.

Experience 2: Luxury Washi Lamp Experience

A Private All-Inclusive Culinary & Craft Escape Our most prestigious 3-hour journey begins with a private welcome of Matcha and Wagashi sweets served on Richard Ginori porcelain. After the first stage of your lamp creation using exceptionally rare Japanese paper, enjoy a hosted lunch at a hidden local Italian restaurant while your work dries. Return for the final assembly, a session to capture beautiful photos of your work, and the opportunity to leave your mark on JeBon’s history by signing our washi canopy lamp.

The "Nessie Lamp" — A piece created for a special space open only to invited guests.

washi lamp installation

In Osaka, there is a famous secret 整体 clinic run by one man. It’s so popular he doesn’t advertise, has no website, and still turns away new clients. The location is private — and even though I created a large washi lamp for his space, I can’t reveal where it is.

When I first met the owner, we talked about his life and what inspires him. I discovered he has a soft spot for “Nessie” stories. Near the entrance of his clinic, there was a beautiful wooden beam he wanted to highlight with a unique washi lamp — something that could wrap around it like a gentle creature in the water.

So I designed a lamp that coils around the beam, hinting at “Nessie” without being too literal. There’s no head, no face — nothing cartoonish. Just a flowing, curving shape that feels alive, like a quiet wave moving through the room.

Before I built the JeBon Canopy Lamp, this was my largest work. I wish I could take you there to see it in person, but this lamp is reserved for those lucky enough to visit that private clinic.

This is the kind of experience JeBon can create for your hotel, restaurant, or shop — a one-of-a-kind 光の温泉 moment. Something that draws people in, slows them down, and invites them to capture and share the feeling with others.
